About Recovery Calling

Recovery Calling is a phone-based storytelling project from HOPE for New Hampshire Recovery. Anyone touched by addiction and recovery can call in and leave a message.

Who runs this

Recovery Calling is a project of HOPE for New Hampshire Recovery, a peer-led recovery community based in Manchester, NH. Hope offers peer support from people with lived experience, along with groups and coaching. Many pathways to recovery are welcome here.

What happens to your voice

After Hope approves a message, it can play on the listen page, at the Recovery Festival on September 26, and on Hope’s social media. Someone going through something similar can hear a voice that’s been there.

Messages don’t post automatically. Someone at Hope listens to every message and reads every transcript before it goes up.

Your number

We don’t store your number, and we don’t keep your IP address. It isn’t attached to your message. For a call, we take only the area code so we can put a pin on the map. No name is attached unless you say one out loud.

The phone company keeps its own records the way it does for any call, so a call can show up on a phone bill. If that matters to you, you can record on the site instead.

Changed your mind?

Email calling@recoverynh.org with roughly when you called and what it was about. We’ll find it and take it down. You don’t have to explain, and there’s no deadline.
